Meet Matt Poston

Matt Poston founded Poston Motor Company in the summer of 2004, naming it in honor of his grandfather’s Chevrolet dealership, which operated back in the 1940s.

Automotive work seems to run in the Poston family. Matt's passion for cars began with his first vehicle—a 1967 Mustang—which he repaired and modified himself. That hands-on experience sparked his interest in becoming a mechanic. In 1987, he moved to Atlanta and took a job at a repair shop to support himself while attending night classes. After earning a management degree from Georgia State University, he began to seriously consider opening a shop of his own. Determined to build his expertise, he passed all the ASE certification tests to become a Master Mechanic.

With more than 16 years of experience working in and managing auto repair shops, Matt eventually decided to strike out on his own.

In the early days, it was just Matt and a single lift. But as demand grew, so did the business—steadily and intentionally, to ensure timely and reliable service.

Today, Poston Motor Company operates with nine lifts and a dedicated team of six employees. Despite having no drive-by visibility, the shop stays busy thanks to word-of-mouth referrals from loyal, satisfied customers.
